WALDOBORO — Wayne E. Carter, 52, died unexpectedly at his home, Saturday, August 5, 2017.

Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad and that's why we call you Dad. Our dad was a tattooed, classic rock loving (and blaring) kind of guy who loved his family and extended family. He was excited about seeing that extended family at our upcoming family reunion and being the grill master, a roll he always accepted with a smile at any BBQ.

His love for music was apparent by the fact he recently attended a number of concerts within a couple months with his companion and was looking forward to attending more.

An avid fisherman, he enjoyed going to local fishing spots with his son, Travis, and grandson Cameron. He also recently took his granddaughter, Autumn Skye, to participate in her first fishing derby.

He was enjoying spending time with his son, Casey, and granddaughter Hailey and was anxious to see the progress of his daughter, Alicia, and her companion's property and home.

A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan until the end, he would defend them tooth and nail against any team. He got to enjoy seeing his grandsons Kaiden and Gabe play the sport he enjoyed.

The past couple of summers he enjoyed spending time at Beaver Lodge enjoying the beach and of course BBQs with his niece's, nephews, family and friends.

A father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there but a guiding light whose love shows us the way. To quote a band both he and his daughter, Cyrena, enjoyed:

"Rise up! Gather round
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up let's go for broke
Watch the night go up in smoke
Rock on! Rock on!"

Visiting hours were held Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home in Rockland.
