Wayne C. “Bunky” Colson, obituary

ROCKLAND – Wayne C. “Bunky” Colson, 64, died Oct. 13, 2016, at the Sussman House in Rockport, following an extended period of declining health.

Born in Rockland on Jan. 21, 1952, he was the son of Edward E. Sr. and Flora M. Roscoe Colson.

Always a hard worker, Bunky worked many years with the Rockland Cemetery Association, as well as various other jobs, including F.J. O'Hara & Son Seafood and North Lubec Canning. For more than 15 years, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Rockland Fire Department. In earlier years, he often worked with his father taking down buildings to reclaim the lumber.

One of Bunky's greatest joys was working his Main Street bottle route. He also enjoyed attending any musical events.

In addition to his parents, Bunky was predeceased by a brother, LaForest; and a sister, Joan. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Lima and her husband and two granddaughters, Andrea Lima and Casey Lima, all of New Hampshire; three brothers, Wesley Colson of Rockland, Eugene Colson and his wife, Lista, and Terry Colson Sr. and his wife, Cindy, all of Thomaston; five sisters, Betty Colson, Cindy Colson, Ruth Ann Mossman and her husband, Vernard, all of Rockland, Priscilla Demmons and her husband, Gerald, of Warren, and Lois Wentworth of Newcastle; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at Seaview Cemetery on Waldo Avenue in Rockland. The Rev. Richard Catalano will officiate.
