Wanda L. Callahan, obituary

THOMASTON – Wanda L. Callahan, 75, died peacefully, Friday, January 5, 2018 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Born in Camden, April 6, 1942 she was the daughter of Richard and Gertrude McKinney Callahan.

Educated locally, she graduated from Farmington State Teachers College in 1964. She later furthered her education, earning a Master's Degree from the University of Maine in 1968.
For 40 years, Wanda taught at Laura Libby School in Thomaston in both the Kindergarten and Second Grade. Following her retirement, she continued doing what she loved, serving as a substitute teacher for another five years.

She was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, holding several positions with that organization.

A very organized person, she enjoyed researching her family genealogy and was a member of the Maine Genealogical Society.

Predeceased by her parents, Wanda is survived by her brother Donald Callahan of Lincolnville, as well as one estranged sister, Janet.

Wanda will be laid to rest privately beside her mother in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
