Waldoboro Police beat: Theft at transfer station, outstanding arrest warrants

    WALDOBORO - Waldoboro police responded to 273 calls for service from June 9-16. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.  

    June 9          

    Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident in the Big Apple parking lot on the Atlantic Highway at 10:55 p.m. Kayla Beal, 26, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2000 Lexus utility vehicle. Beal’s vehicle was backing out of a parking spot, the driver failed to see gas pump and struck gas pump. No injuries were noted.

    As a result of the accident Kayla Beal, 26, of Waldoboro, was arrested for operating under the influence and a warrant. 

    June 10        

    Officer Larry Hesseltine is investigating a complaint from a resident of a scam involving someone saying money was needed to help a grandson out of the area. 

    June 11 

    Officer Larry Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 9:25 a.m. Jennifer Dobransky, 41, of Georgetown, was driving a 2004 Toyota, utility vehicle. Mecca Simmons, 51, of Pleasant Hill, Tenn., was driving a 2008 Jeep, utility vehicle. Dobransky’s vehicle was travelling westbound on the Atlantic Highway and pulled into the breakdown lane and slowed down. The vehicle  re-entered the travel lane without signaling and struck Simmons’ vehicle that was also traveling westbound on the Atlantic Highway. No injuries were reported. 

    Officer Thomas Bartunek is investigating a report from a resident of the theft of a trailer ($800 value) .

    June 12

    Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a report from Maritime Farms of a $85 gasoline drive off. The subject was located and came back and paid for gas.

    June 13         

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a resident of the theft of some plants. 

    Sergeant Jamie Wilson is investigating a report from a resident that tires were flattened on his equipment and trailers. 

    Sergeant Jamie Wilson is investigating a report from a resident that he is being threatened at his grandfather’s residence. 

    June 15            

    Larry Wellman, 36, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Chris Spear on a warrant. 

    Louis Rubino, 33, of Warren was arrested by Officer John Lash on a warrant. 

    June 16         

    Officer Larry Hesseltine is investigating a report from the Waldoboro Transfer Station that someone stole some metal and other items.
