Waldoboro Police beat: Assault, medication and money thefts

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 147 calls for service from June 20-27. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. 

    June 20 

    Officer Thomas Bartunek is investigating a report from a citizen of a burglary/theft. 

    June 22 

    James Garner, 19, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer John Lash for assault. 

    June 23     

    Marandi Forrester, 26, of Monroe, N.C., was issued a summons by Officer Larry Hesseltine for operating without a license. 

    June 24 

    Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an accident at the Washington/ Old Augusta Road intersection, at 9:11 a.m. Robert Bolton, 71, of Spruce Head, was driving a 2003 Honda utility vehicle. Thomas Shaggy, 54, of Washington, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck. Brianna Carroll, 24, of Jefferson, was driving a 2014 Honda sedan. Bolton was traveling westbound on Old Augusta Road, starting from a stopped position and failing to yield right-of-way. Shaggy was traveling southbound on Washington Road, following the roadway. Carroll was traveling eastbound on Old Augusta Road, stopped at the stop sign. Bolton failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming Shaggy, causing him to swerved in an attempt to avoid Bolton. While attempting to avoid Bolton, Shaggy struck Bolton and Carroll who was in the opposite travel lane of Old Augusta Road intersection. No injuries were reported.                       

    Officer Chris Spear investigated an accident on Orff’s Corner Road at 3:58 p.m. Michael Boutin, 55, of Sanford, was driving a Volvo truck. Christopher Peabody, (no age on report), of Washington, was the owner of a parked 2014 Ford sedan. Boutin was not on the roadway, but backing out and his vehicle and struck Peabody’s which was driverless and parked legally. No injuries were reported.

    Hesseltine investigated a report from a citizen of an unwanted subject. Subject was warned on disorderly conduct. 

    June 25                       

    Spear investigated an accident on Atlantic Highway at 1:31 p.m. Roger Feltis, 24, of Canaan, was driving a 2002 GMC pickup truck. Clara Hamilton-Fagon, 75, of Jefferson, was driving a 2005 Subaru sedan. Feltis was entering a parking space in a parking lot. Hamilton-Fagon was driverless and parked legally. Feltis backed into Hamilton-Fagon. No injuries were reported. 

    Spear is investigating a report from Moose Crossing Garden Center of the theft of plants. 

    Dale Winchenbach, 54, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Spear for a violation of a protective order. 

    Sgt. Jamie Wilson investigated a report from a citizen of an unwanted subject. Subject was warned on trespass.                       

    Lash is investigating a report from a citizen that someone broke into his camper and medication and money were taken. 

    June 26                       

    Fuller is investigating a report from the Big Apple of a $45 gasoline drive off.
