Waldoboro man dies in crash on MaineTurnpike

    WELLS — A 48-year-old man from Waldoboro died Friday morning, Jan. 6 when the pick-up truck he was driving slammed into the rear of a snowplow truck on the Maine Turnpike in Wells.

    Michael Sands was killed instantly in the crash, according to a news release from the Maine State Police. The crash occurred at mile 16 in the northbound and far left travel lane on the Maine Turnpike. Police said that traffic is reduced to one lane and will continue to be backed up until the crash site is cleared.
