BELFAST — Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County has hired Meg Klingelhofer as its new executive director. Klingelhofer has spent the past eight years as community education director with New Hope for Women, serving as part of the agency management team, supervising outreach and education services of the agency, and collaborating on fundraising initiatives.

For the past 30 years Klingelhofer has also been a builder specializing in antique house restoration and historically inspired new construction.  She was a founder of Antique House Restoration and Construction, and was an A-licensed builder in Virginia, prior to moving back to Maine in 2008.

Klingelhofer was also a licensed Realtor focusing on land preservation and historic properties.  Early in her career she worked in a homeless shelter for pregnant and parenting adolescents in the Boston area.

"Working for Habitat for Humanity has always been on my bucket list," she said in a news release. "County has a special place in my heart. I am delighted to be able to join such an innovative, knowledgeable, and dedicated team of volunteers who have accomplished so much with Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County."
