FRANKFORT — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Prospect man who refused to stop for Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputy Darrin Moody Thursday.

According to a press release, Nicholas Hart, 29, of Prospect, was allegedly seen operating his motorcycle near Frankfort Village Thursday morning. Moody was reportedly aware that Hart’s license is currently under suspension, at which point he attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

Instead of stopping, Hart allegedly turned onto a side road before accelerating, according the release.

The deputy made a decision to discontinue pursuing Hart, after determining speed and road conditions were “creating a dangerous situation.”

Further investigation revealed the motorcycle’s registration had expired, and that Hart is currently on bail conditions for a prior arrest.

Hart has been charged with eluding an officer, operating after suspension, driving to endanger, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and violation conditions of release.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information regarding Hart’s whereabouts to call 338-2040.
