ROCKPORT — VoXX: Voice of Twenty, formerly known as Ave Maris Stella, the highly regarded a cappella vocal ensemble based in Midcoast Maine will be presenting music by Rachmaninoff, Byrd, Grieg, Dufay, Harris, Bach, Mehrmann and more on Friday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m.

VoXX performs varied programs featuring early music. Their repertoire covers a wide range of time periods, from Medieval through 20th century, and styles, from chant to polyphony and far beyond.

VoXX likes to bring unusual works to Maine audiences, along with more familiar music, and performs in many languages and styles, from English to Italian to Latin to Spanish, and from sacred to secular to humorous. The group has become well known for its work to educate audiences through informative program notes and spoken introductions.

The acoustics in the Rockville Community Chapel will be perfect for the voices of the a cappella ensemble, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary year, with a reception on the lawn following the concert.

The Chapel has been completely renovated; but there is no heat, so occasions are limited to the summer months. The goal of the Board of Directors is to install a heating system. Any monies donated to the Chapel, after all bills have been paid, will be put toward this end. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door or reserved in advance by calling Martha Morrison at 596-6291.
