Vose Library: Snowman Competition creative and fun

UNION — The air was crisp and cold with loads of sunshine carrying little wind for the third annual Snow sculpture contest for Vose Library.

Families arrived by car full bringing special tools, colored
water, assorted decorations, and watering cans. Families and individuals chose selected spots surrounding the entrance and parking lots.

Enthusiasm was not dampened by the complete lack of stickiness to the snow which was remedied by the use of watering cans and spray bottles. Each sculpture was unique in its design and choice of materials to accessorize the finished creation.

We had entries from Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, snow monsters (one laying down), a giant cupcake, hamburger and banana, a miniature snow person, giant reading chair and a horse with rider.

The voting was done by balloting among creators and library patrons choosing their favorite in each category among the numbered sculptures. In all, we had 12 entries from preschoolers to
retirees!

Participants enjoyed warm cocoa, hot coffee, popcorn and yummy cornbread. The enthusiasm was uplifting and now most can't wait to plan next year's creations! Well done, everyone!
