CAMDEN — Violet Cora Cassidy, 98, died Feb. 1, 2016, at Anderson Inn in Camden. Born in Manchester, N.H., on April 26, 1917, she was the daughter of Willie and Lydia (Gagne) Boisvert.

On May 27, 1939, she married Joseph E. Cassidy in Manchester, where they lived for many years. Violet was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manchester, and worked for a number of years as the personnel director for the Checker Cab Company.

In her earlier years, she enjoyed oil painting, knitting and gardening. The Cassidys loved to square dance and were members of a club.

In 1999, they moved from Manchester to Lincolnville, to be near their daughter, Cheryl. She was an exceptionally kind and gracious woman, loved not only by her family, but all who knew and cared for her in her final years. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her children, Cheryl Cassidy and her husband, Ronald Pinkham, of Lincolnville; Ernest Cassidy of Digby, Nova Scotia; two grandchildren, Sarah G. Pinkham of Lincolnville and Aimee Deveau-Cassidy of Nova Scotia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph E. Cassidy in 2005; a brother, Bruno Boisvert; and a sister, Irene Plourde.

A memorial service will be held later in the year.

If desired memorial gifts may be made to Meals on Wheels.

Arrangements are with Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
