WARREN — Viola "Sally" Zwick, 90, passed away peacefully Jan. 31, 2015, at Woodlands Memory Care Center in Rockland. Sally, as she was affectionately known, was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Meriden, Conn., to Joseph and Henrietta (Baer) Laviana.

As the last of nine children born to them, she was the family’s Christmas present that year.

Sally grew up and graduated from Maloney high School in Meriden and one of her accomplishments was that she played the flute in her father's high school band. After graduating and during World War II she worked along with her father and brother at M.H. Rhodes, where they made timers for the war effort.

After the war she met the love of her life, William Zwick, and soon became his bride. Together they owned and operated The Blue Ridge Farm in Kensington, Conn., for many years. During those years they employed many of the local children and they were always a strong influence in their lives and to this day some still kept in touch with Sally.

Sally's loves were flowers, reading and traveling. She and Bill were fortunate to have been able to spend many winters in Florida. Sally loved to visit New York City, where she enjoyed shopping as well as attending the plays there. Sally always had a special spot for New Orleans as well.

Sally was predeceased by her parents; as well as her husband, William, who passed in December 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Zwick, of Warren, who gave so unselfishly of her time and love during these past years. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Viola's daughter would like to thank the staff at Woodlands Memory Care for making her final months comfortable and giving her wonderful care and love.

Sally will be laid to rest alongside her loving husband at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta in the spring. A time of remembrance will be planned for the summer of 2015.

Hall Funeral Home is caring for the family.
