Van veers off road in heavy South Thomaston downpour

    SOUTH THOMASTON — On Friday, July 24, at approximately 5:11 p.m., the Knox County Sheriff's Office received a report of a single vehicle accident on Route 131 in South Thomaston, in the area of 663 St. George Road. The vehicle, a 2003 GMC Van, was traveling north on the St. George Road when witnesses observed it suddenly veer of the roadway during a heavy downpour of rain, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

    South Thomaston EMS and Knox deputies arrived. The driver, Michael Bedell, of Thomaston was the only occupant and had to be extricated by EMS/fire. He was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for treatment of pain. Deputy Pat Polky is investigating the accident. The accident is under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
