BATH — Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said Thursday that Chelsea Jones, the 22-year-old Thomaston woman shot in Bath Monday night, has died.

An autopsy is scheduled Friday, Nov. 20, at the State Medical Examiner's Office. State and Bath Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.

They said Jones was allegedly shot with a 9mm Taurus handgun by her fiancé, Dylan Grubbs, 23, also of Thomaston. The couple had driven to the Shaw's Supermarket parking lot to meet up with another man to allegedly sell him the gun.

BATH — The woman who sustained a gunshot wound in the Shaw’s Supermarket parking lot in Bath yesterday, and the man who shot her, have both been identified by Bath and Maine State Police Tuesday morning as Thomaston residents.

According to Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, the victim, who was shot in the head, is 22-year-old Chelsea Jones. She was sitting in the front seat a sport utility vehicle when her boyfriend, 23-year-old Dylan Grubbs, allegedly shot her.

Grubbs had driven to the parking lot to sell a handgun and was showing it to the prospective buyer outside the SUV when the gun went off, according to McCausland in the news release.

Jones remains at Maine Medical Center in Portland Tuesday morning.

The investigation into the Nov. 16 shooting continues, and McCausland said that Grubbs was interviewed by police and continues to cooperate with investigators. The man intending to purchase the gun, who witnessed the shooting, has also been interviewed.

“The gun has been taken to the State Police Crime Lab to be inspected, as State and Bath Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting,” said McCausland.
