LINCOLNVILLE — Barbara Ann Turner, 71, died unexpectedly Oct. 16, 2015, in the comfort of her home. Born Feb. 3, 1944, in Albany, N.Y., she was the second youngest child of Amaziah and Martha (Travis) Eaton.

Growing up in Albany, Barbara attended schools there. graduating high school in 1962. Following graduation, she worked several years as a cook at Albany Medical Center. In the years to come, she moved to Maine, eventually settling in Rockport, where she started a family. An extremely hardworking, single mom, Barbara loved working at the Camden Healthcare Center and later at Quarry Hill, retiring in 2009 after 33 years of faithful service. As a housekeeper, she worked floor maintenance and was known as a "tornado" when working with the buffer and was able to run it with one finger. Barbara loved the people she worked with there and enjoyed spending time with the patients as well.

Throughout her life, she had many hobbies and interests, including Elvis, lottery tickets, bingo, playing cards, watching murder mystery shows, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel and went many places, including Graceland, Dollywood, Nova Scotia and Walton's Mountain. She especially loved going to Storyland in Glenn, N.H., with her grandkids. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and will be very dearly missed forever.

Surviving is her son, Adrian Turner Jr. and his fiancé, Gina Capizzano, of Rockland; her daughter, Lisa Turner and her partner, Dennis Pearse, of Lincolnville; her grandson, Samuel Brewer of Inglis, Fla.; her granddaughter, Savanah Turner of Rockland; three great-grandchildren, Angel Freeman, Noah Frank and Kyra "Kiki" Frank; several nieces and nephews from New York; and a special friend, Jessica Dengler, who took compassionate care of her in her final days.

A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St. in Camden.
