State Police on scene, reconstructing accident

UPDATE: Route 1 from Camden to Lincolnville Beach reopened to traffic following fatal pedestrian accident

    CAMDEN — Maine State Police have been reconstructing a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a truck that occurred just shy of the Lincolnville town line on Route 1 in Camden at approximately 4:22 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26.

    The highway was closed from the intersection of routes 52 and 1, at the Camden Town Library, to the intersection of route 1 and 173 at Lincolnville Beach until approximately 9:30 a.m.

    Route 1 is now open again to traffic.


    Camden Police Chief Randy Gagne said at 8:30 a.m. that the road will likely remain closed for at least another hour.

    Route 1 traffic is being rerouted through Lincolnville this morning as law enforcement crews from the Camden Police Department and Maine State Police continue to work at the scene. No names have been released.

    Drivers are being rerouted from Route 173 in Lincolnville to Route 52. Drivers heading north from Camden are being rerouted up Route 52 near the Camden Public Library.
