Remains found May 8 positively identified as Reed

UPDATE: Missing Waldoboro man discovered deceased in Searsport

    WALDOBORO —The body of missing Waldoboro man Steven Reed was found along the banks of the Penobscot River in Searsport on Tuesday, May 8. His remains were transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta where positive identification was made late in the week. Relatives of the deceased were notified over the weekend.

    Reed was last seen leaving Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor on November 4 after being discharged. Searsport Police and State Police detectives coordinated the recovery of Reed's body from the river bank after he was discovered. 


     

    WALDOBORO —State and Waldoboro Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a Waldoboro man who has been missing since November.  Steven A. Reed, 64, was last seen in Bangor November 4.  According to police, Reed is an alcoholic and has suffered from periods of depression. He is 5’10” tall, weighs 185 pounds with salt and pepper hair and brown eyes.  Anyone who has had contact with Reed in the past six months is asked to call State Police in Augusta at (207) 624-7076 and ask for the Major Crimes Unit.
