Upcoming Waldo County events: Pride parade, art exhibits

    News from the Belfast Creative Coalition:

    June 7! “Portuguese Perspectives,” an exhibit of photographs from the Algarve Region by photographer Jon Laitin, will be on display at the Belfast Free Library from June 4th through June 30th.  Laitin will also speak about bicycling in the Algarve Region on Tuesday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Library’s Abbot Room.     June 9-12! - The 14th ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF ART at the UMaine Hutchinson Center in Belfast! 139 artists will show their work during this four-day event sponsored by Senior College at Belfast. Opening Night Reception and first viewing is scheduled for June 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring music from the Belfast Bay Fiddlers. Information here.
    June 10-12, 9am to 4pm at Waterfall Arts! An intensive Photoshop workshop for artists led by Kris Engman and Susan Guthrie. No previous Photoshop experience required. Please bring a laptop with a reasonably current version of Photoshop installed (a free 30-day trial can be downloaded from the Adobe website.)  Information here.
    June 11! Piano and Violin Duo Clayton Clemetson and Audrey Budington will present a free concert in the Gammans Room of the Belfast Free Library! This dynamic duo brings a love and appreciation of traditional Celtic and New England contra dance music while tastefully weaving in their passion for creating and improvising new sounds.     June 11! Belfast’s own pride festival, ‘Belfast Has Pride’ will be the first pride festival in the Midcoast region. This new festival is looking for all the support possible. Donations will help cover costs for supplies and materials, and hopefully will raise enough funds to start a scholarship fund for a student at the local high school.

    June 24! Maine Farmland Trust Gallery will be showing the work of John Arden Knight, and that of four other artists, in an exhibit titled The Wild Things, from June 6 through July 25. The artists will present an artist talk on June 24 before the Belfast Fourth Friday Art Walk. More information.

    July 25-29 - Belfast Dance Studio’s Summer Dance Camp for Teens, ages 11 & up. Beginners and more experienced dancers alike are welcome. Participants will gain experience in a variety of dance styles! Register by June 15 and save $15 off the enrollment fee. More information.
