Two-car crash in Rockland sends one to hospital

    ROCKLAND – A two-car crash Friday, around noon, on Maverick Street in Rockland near the traffic light at the entrance to the Rockland Plaza Shopping Center, sent one person to the hospital.

    According to Rockland Police Sgt. Don Finnegan, Anne Herrick, 69, of Rockland, was turning right from Spruce Street onto Maverick Street, driving a 2013 Toyota Highlander when she was struck by Eleanor Hallowell, 79, of Tuscon, Ariz., who was driving east on Maverick Street in a 2007 Mercury sedan.

    The two vehicles collided when Hallowell failed to stop at a red light, according to the police report filed by Rockland Officer William Smith, who responded to the accident.

    Herrick was transported by Rockland EMS to Pen Bay Medical Center with a complaint of pain.

    Rockland Fire and EMS also responded to crash.
