Two 19-year-old mainland men arrested for stealing $200,000 from Vinalhaven home

    VINALHAVEN — Knox County Sheriff’s deputies recovered approximately $200,000 in stolen cash and arrested two 19-year-olds earlier this week in connection with the theft.

    Sheriff Donna Dennison said in a press release that Jacob Mondello of South Thomaston and Vincent Hilt of St. George were arrested April 15 for theft, Class B.

    The two men are accused of stealing the cash from a home on Vinalhaven, and the theft was reported April 11, according to Dennison.

    Knox County Sheriff’s Detective Donald Murray and Deputy Rob Potter investigated the theft. Mondello and Hilt were taken to Knox County Jail.
