CAMDEN — Peopleplace Cooperative Preschool held its annual Rainbow Run on the morning May 1, starting at the school’s location on Union Street in Camden. Close to 200 people participated in the race in which you could walk, run and bike.

All proceeds from the run were earmarked for the Peopleplace Scholarship Fund, including the entry fee and raffle tickets for a variety of prizes — one of which was the chance to name an Aldermere Farm belted Galloway calf.

Wendy Witbeck is a parent, but also the chairman of the fund raising committee for Peopleplace.

“The Rainbow Run hopes to bring people together from the community to enjoy the nice spring day and hopefully get some scholarships for our school,” she said. “The Tutu’s are teams that were created, so these are teams of people that decided to run together and this is how they decided to dress up for the day. It’s their way of celebrating a fun run.”

Belinda Aldridge said the run is all about scholarships so people can send their children to preschool. And it’s a colorful run, too.

“It’s a rainbow run,” she said. “So you get to have color thrown at you. It’s just a big community event to bring people together.”
