ROCKPORT — Rockport Police are investigating a break-in at Tolman Pond Market that was reported Jan. 26 at approximately 8 a.m.

The break-in was discovered by employees when they arrived at work Monday morning to open the store. They found a hole, which was later determined to be three feet in diameter, in the ceiling.

The store is at 790 West Street in Rockport.

Knox County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Joslyn and his K-9 dog assisted Rockport Police Chief Mark Kelley with searching the area around the store. They discovered a bag of tools that was left behind from the break-in.

The store's video camera showed that an individual's foot and leg broke through the ceiling. The camera's footage did not identify the suspect.

Chief Kelley stated that he believes the individual was dropped off on Route 90, walked across Tolman Pond around the back of the building and then went onto the roof.

There was not a report of any stolen merchandise. The total cost to repair the roof damage has not been determined at this time.

Kelley said that the burglary remains under investigation.
