UNION — Thomas Robert Kirkham, 62, passed away May 27, 2015, at the Sussman Hospice House in Rockport, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Newton, Mass., on Feb. 10, 1953, and was the son of Thomas Archibald and Lois (Jordan) Kirkham.

A graduate of Lexington High School in 1971, he began his career in the field of medical imaging, and later obtained his Bachelor of Arts in business administration at Northeastern University. In 1983, he married Marion "Sunny" Kirkham in Lexington.

Tom had a keen love of travel and adventure. Tom loved flying and in the 1970s, he earned his pilot's license. He traveled in Europe extensively for business and enjoyed visiting Scotland whenever possible. In 2013, Tom and Sunny celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in Scotland. Tom loved his Celtic dogs. He and Sunny raised Scottish terriers for over 20 years, showing dogs in AKC competitions for conformation.

Tom was a well-known bag piper, and was a former member of the Atlanta Pipe Band of Atlanta, Georgia and the Stewart Highland Pipe Band of Massachusetts. He performed in community theater both in Georgia and Midcoast Maine.

Tom's walk of faith was an important part of his life. He facilitated a men's morning Bible study at the Waldoboro Baptist Church for many years, and posted on several Apologetics blogs.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Sunny; two children, Iain Kirkham and his wife, Jessica, and Brittany Kirkham, all of Union; four grandchildren, Faith, Riley, Fallyn and Steven; his mother, Lois Kirkham of Lexington, Mass.; his sister, Patty McCabe and her husband, Chuck, of Pembroke, Mass.; his nephew, Dan McCabe and his wife, Aleisha, of Washington State; and a niece, Kim McCabe of Massachusetts.

A memorial service will be announced in July.
