SPRUCE HEAD — Therese E. Morris, 88, died Jan. 19, 2016, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, after a brief illness.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 28, 1927, she was the daughter of Walter C. and Louise Knoll Schad. Growing up in Brooklyn, she attended local parochial schools and graduated from high school in that city.

After graduating high school she began employment with a New York City law firm. She advanced in her work, becoming a legal secretary working on Wall Street until her retirement.

While on a date that took her to the ski slopes, Terry met Elroy J. Morris. They married seven years later, on Aug. 31, 1957, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stephentown, N.Y.

Following their marriage, Terry continued her work as a legal secretary, making their first home in Freeport, Long Island, N.Y. After retirement in 1980, the couple moved to Patten Point, where they built a new home, and became part of the close knit Patten Point neighborhood.

Since moving to Spruce Head, Terry has been an active communicant of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, where she enjoyed participating in the Daughters of St. Bernard. She served more than 30 years as secretary of the Spruce Head Community Hall Association, was a member of the Wessaweskeag Historical Society, the Knit-Wits, and for many years was a steering committee member for the Cash For Clothes Sale.

When they first moved to Spruce Head, they began snowmobiling with friends. With that group they expanded their winter travels to the Moosehead area, where they forged many new trails. She was a member of the Snow Owls Snowmobile Club and served a time as secretary of that organization.

In addition to her husband, Roy of Spruce Head; Terry is survived by a cousin, Patricia Vaccaro of Islandia, Long Island, N.Y.; and her five children, Doris Galati and her husband, Thomas, Skip Vaccaro, Donna Kossack and her husband, Robert, Chris Vaccaro and his wife, Carol, Stacey Milonas and her husband, Nick; her friends, whom Terry considered as family, Douglas and Laura McLennan and their children, Shaun, Ashley, Nolan and Liam McLennan, Thomas, Abbie and Mason McLennan, Ray and Pam Sleeper and their children, Jessica and Tucker Baum, Cyrus Sleeper, and Bud and Maureen Collins; as well as several extended family members and many friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 150 Broadway in Rockland. Interment will be at a later date in Advocate, Nova Scotia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. George Firefighters and Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 249, Tenants Harbor, ME 04860.
