ROCKPORT — The Everyman Repertory Theatre presents its latest main stage production — a Maine premiere — the comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at the Camden Opera House. The show opens on Saturday, Sept. 6, with an opening night party at 6 p.m. sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank.

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, written by Christopher Durang, won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, as well as a host of other prizes.

Vanya and Sonia have never left the confines of their childhood home in Bucks County, Pennsylvannia, while their sister Masha has been gallivanting around the world as a successful actress. A surprise visit from Masha and her 20-something boy toy, Spike, throws the normally quiet household into utter upheaval as its residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret, and the sudden possibility of escape.

The play features Jennifer Hodgson, David Troup, Elizabeth Logun, Ryan Thompson, Dagney Ernest and Marie Stickney. The set was designed by John Bielenberg, the lighting was designed by Tom Sadowski, and the costumes were designed by Jessica Manbeck. Abby Norman is stage manager and the play is directed by Paul Hodgson. Keith Mackenzie is the producer.

The show plays on 6, 7, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21 September, with a talkback Q&A session with the cast and crew on Sunday, Sept. 14. Evening performances are at 7 p.m, with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at www.everymanrep.org, by calling 207.236.0173, as well as at the following retail venues: Owl and Turtle and HAVII in Camden, the Reading Corner, Rockland, and Bella Books, Belfast.

Drama teachers should collect the names of students wishing to attend — and dates — and call those in to the box office.
