Taste of Thomaston seeks vendors

THOMASTON — Knox Museum is currently seeking vendors to participate in its second annual Taste of Thomaston food and wine festival scheduled for Saturday of Columbus Day weekend, October 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of Montpelier, the big white house at the turn to St. George in Thomaston.

Taste of Thomaston is a food and wine tasting festival celebrating everything local, featuring signature bites and sips from midcoast Maine's finest chefs, vintners and brewers, cheese makers, bakers, and specialty food and beverage artisans of all kinds. Last year's wildly popular inaugural event attracted more than 500 people and featured 28 vendors inside the tent, as well as two bands, the Thomaston Farmer's Market, Barefoot Book Nook, and Crystal Robinson's carriage rides on the grounds.

This year Knox Museum hopes to fill two tents with vendors and entertainment, and increase the number of outside vendors as well.

Vendors inside the tent will be provided with booth space, water, and electricity as required, as well as the opportunity to work side-by-side with noted fellow chefs and food artisans of every type, and to meet their markets — new customers as well as existing fans — in a congenial and festive atmosphere.

In turn, vendors are asked to provide complimentary tastes of their signature dishes and products to approximately 600 guests.  Vendors can sell gift certificates and packaged products as appropriate. Everyone from noted award-winning chefs to small-time newcomer "local secrets" is invited to participate.

Some outside booth space on the grounds surrounding the tents for craftspeople is also available for rental on a case-by-case basis as space allows. Packages detailing the event are currently in process and will be mailed to all last year's participants shortly.

For more information, as a new vendor wishing to request a package, or to reserve your booth, contact Tobin Malone at 354-8062 or email info@knoxmuseum.org.
