Swanville man arrested for assault at Belfast park

    BELFAST — A Searsport man was arrested after threatening a family member with a baseball bat at Belfast City Park June 21.

    Kevin C. Jewell, 29, came to the attention of Belfast Police when a concerned passerby reported hearing yelling, according to Sergeant John Gibbs.

    The victim was reportedly in Jewell’s vehicle when he told them to get out. When the victim did not exit, Jewell pulled them from the vehicle before throwing their backpack and a pizza box at them. The victim was hit with the pizza box.

    Jewell, who reportedly had the bat in his hand during the confrontation, was subsequently arrested and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail.

    He has been charged with domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and violating conditions of release.

    Jewell is scheduled to make his first court appearance July 21.
