PALERMO — Steven K. Gray, 64, of Palermo, died peacefully March 17, 2015, in Winterport with family by his side after a brave struggle with cancer. He was born in Deer Isle on Nov. 21, 1950, to Ralph and Helen (Smith) Gray.

Steve grew up in the Belfast area and had a love for motorcycles. He was a man of many talents – carpenter, cook, mechanic and handyman. Steve was always going out of his way to help others. Every morning he had coffee on at 6 and was ready to go at 7.

He is predeceased by two sisters, Karen and Bona. Steve is survived by his children, Matt Merando and his wife, Stepheny, of Belfast, Josh Watkins and his wife, Sharon, of Belfast, Scott Kennedy of Rockland, Steven Kennedy of California and Clara Gray of Swanville; his siblings, Nelson Gray and his wife, Lorraine, of Winterport, John Gray and his wife, Bea, of Penobscot, Richard Farmer of Belfast, and Debra Thibodeau and her husband, Ray, of Florida; his grandchildren, Austin, Makita, Chandler, Alyssa, Haley and Nathan; many very special nieces, nephews and cousins and very special family friends at Benner's Garage and the Bowen Family.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held Saturday, March 21 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Bowen's Tavern on Waterville Road in Belfast.
