WALDOBORO — Stephen R. (Randy) Parmley, of Morristown, New Jersey and Waldoboro, passed away peacefully at his home in Waldoboro, Maine on July 26, 2017. He was 65 years old.

He was known for his love of nature and his many talents as a stone mason/sculptor, woodworker, painter, poet, and musician. He had boundless energy and was committed to his practice of yoga. You can find his stonework in Augusta, Maine as he and a partner, Norman Casas, crafted the granite steps for the Blaine House. He was also commissioned by The Nobleboro School to do a Percent for Art project called Earth Sun Moon and Stars. The children really enjoyed it because it was made for them to be able to touch and play on. He created numerous fountains and birdbaths for people and businesses in Camden, Rockport, Portland and many other areas up and down the coast.

One of his most wonderful stone sculptures, a stone boat with stone sails, can be seen before the Wiscasset Bridge. He also built a multi-tiered granite waterfall installation in New Jersey for a Cancer Hospital. He is survived by his ex-wife Laura Kane of Los Angeles, California; his son, Cassidy Parmley and his wife Bethany, of Washington, Maine; and his grandchildren, Ilie and Finn, and his daughter, Jessica Parmley, of Los Angeles, California; and his brothers, Robin Parmley of Kapaa, Hawaii, and Rodney Parmley of Potsdam, New York.

There will be a celebration of his life at the end of December. Dates and times will be announced.
