WARREN — Stephen H. Beaupre, 69, lost his valiant battle against cancer on Jan. 14, 2016. He died peacefully at the home he had built in Warren, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Rockland on May 29, 1946, he was the son of Claude R. and Velma L. Beaupre. He grew up in Thomaston and graduated from Georges Valley High School in 1967.

During the 1970's he worked as a guard at the Maine State Prison and was a dispatcher for the Rockport Police Department. From 1977 to 1992 he worked as a banquet waiter at the Samoset Resort in Rockport. During this time he also worked at the Big Apple convenience store, where he met his good friends, Tim and Gilda Scarborough.

Moving on to Nautica in 1993, he worked there until that company’s closing in 2001. Steve also worked at the Oakland Park Bowling Lanes in Rockport, and most recently was a tray aide at Pen Bay Medical Center until his retirement in 2014.

Steve married his wife, Alana Erickson, in 1983. Their daughter was born in 1984 and the next year he was able to realize his dream of building a log home with the help of his family. Three years later they welcomed a son. It is in this home that he raised his two children. They were his greatest treasures and he loved them with all of his heart.

Steve had many interests, including gardening, metal detecting, coin collecting, photography and poetry. He also loved the ocean and beach-combing. He loved music, especially classic rock and the oldies. Steve also enjoyed playing the slots in Bangor and Oxford and traveled there often with his brother, Ron.

Steve was a family man with a gentle soul and pure heart. Even though his illness slowed him down, it never dampened his spirit or love of life. He faced it with courage and hope. Watching the old Twilight Zone series with his son, Nick, was a favorite pastime. He also loved watching the Boston Red Sox.

In June of 2014 his daughter, Holly, blessed him with a beautiful granddaughter who brightened his world with her smile.

Steve will be greatly missed and remembered with love by his family.

Predeceased by his father, Claude, in 2004; Steve is survived by his mother, Velma Beaupre of Rockport; his brother, Ronald Beaupre of Rockport; his wife of 32 years, Alana Beaupre; his son, Nicolas C. Beaupre and his companion, Jess Martz; a daughter, Holly M. Beaupre and her companion, Jamie Gieseman; and his granddaughter, Arabella Skye Gieseman, all of Warren; as well as a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special cousin, Karen Johnson of New York.

Steve's family has chosen to remember his life privately. A graveside committal service will be announced in the spring.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.
