WALDOBORO — Starla M. (Anderson) Hendron, 55, died unexpectedly on March 8, 2017, at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. She was the loving wife of George E. Hendron, with whom she shared 15 years of marriage.

She was born Feb. 9, 1962, in Rockland, and is the daughter of Walter A. Anderson and Nancy E. (Eugley) Smith. She was a graduate of Georges Valley High School in Thomaston and also received her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate from Region 8 Vocational School and had worked for the Homestead in Owls Head.

Starla was employed most recently at Bowden Egg Farm as a delivery driver for the past five years and had worked as a custodian for the Miller School and for North End Composites. She also spent time in the shipping and receiving department at Van Baalen's in Rockland and enjoyed her job cooking at the former Brown Bag Restaurant.

She was a devoted owner of three dogs, Tyson, Roxie and Axel, and two cats, Clyde and Chester. Her pets loved her as much as she loved them. Starla was a good cook and enjoyed sharing what she made with her friends and family. Her generous spirit carried through to many areas of her life. Whether it was helping a friend in need or people she barely knew or a stray animal, it was a constant theme in her life. Spending time with her 4-year-old granddaughter, Mylee, was above all one of her favorite and most cherished things to do.

She is survived by her husband, George E. Hendron of Waldoboro; her mother, Nancy E. Smith; and her father, Walter A. Anderson, both of Thomaston; her son, Peter Z. Anderson and his companion, Samantha Stanley, of Camden; her stepsons, George Hendron, Greg Hendron and Andrew Hendron; her sisters, April E. Burch and her husband, Joseph, of Owls Head, and Heidi S. DeCourcey of Scarborough; her half-brothers, Bradley Anderson and Matthew Anderson; her grandchildren, Gavin Anderson and Mylee Anderson; her step-grandson, Stephen Sanford; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Benner, Christine Starrett, Tina Sanborn and Essie Sanborn; as well as a brother-in-law, Will Hendron. She is also survived by her nephews, Gentry O. Burch of Dover, N.H.,and McCabe W. Burch of Owls Head; and her niece, Hannah R. DeCourcey of Portland; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A private graveside service will be held for Starla in the spring.
