Co-Ed Middle School Soccer: Lincolnville 4, Vinalhaven 0
(By Ben Edes)

Having had a porpoise escort over to Vinalhaven for good luck in the dense fog, it was almost a forgone conclusion that Lincolnville would have a good day on the pitch.

As it turned out, the Lynx were able to emerge victorious against the scrappy Vikings by a score of 4-0.

The Lynx did manage to get on the scoreboard early with a strike at the two minute mark when midfielder Kara Andrews received a pass in the open from defender Emitt Dayhoof. She quickly converted it into a lovely oblique pass crossing from left to right above the box which winger Jackson Bernier picked up on the fly and then cut his shot back to the far post for the score.

That was quickly followed by several strong Vinalhaven rives into the LCS defensive end, but then the Lynx began to dominate the play. It took another seven minutes for LCS to strike again, and it came when Bernier intercepted a Viking goal kick, took a quick dribble to set up his shot, and then hammered it home inside the post to his right.

Another minute saw Bernier feed midfielder Jack Fishman on the left side of the goal. Fishman promptly launched an arcing shot over both defense and keeper for the third tally of the half.

At that point, the Vikings staged a rally, and neither side scored for the balance of the half.

The second half saw quite a bit of seesaw play with the possession going back and forth. The only score came at the 43 minute mark when Fishman launched a corner kick in to striker Griffin Dubrow who quickly one touched the ball into the open back side of the net.

Both teams are to be complimented for the fine play and sportsmanship exhibited.

On the defensive end of things, LCS standouts that should be noted included Matt Kremin, who played a fine half at keeper and followed it up with an outstanding performance anchoring the defense at sweeper during the second half. John Pessara showed his usual aggressive style of play at the stopper position, and was nicely supported by wing defenders Lili Clement and Lincoln Outerbridge.

Girls Middle School Soccer: Medomak 7, Troy Howard 0
(By Andrea Williamson)

What a great day for soccer, a cool mist in the air, still warm, but the grass just wet enough for the ball to pass quickly.

MMS took the early lead in the first half with 6:58 gone in the game. Ruth Havener scored unassisted to put MMS up 1-0.

Two minutes later, Cameron Bains scored unassisted giving MMS a 2-0 lead.

Grace White at 21:58 gone in the first found the back of the net on a nice long kick outside the 18 giving MMS a 3-0 lead at the half.

MMS did not back down in the second half.

Baylee Stewart came out the goal and Addison McCormick took over in goal. MMS scored 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the second half when Ruth Havener scored her second goal of the night on an awesome pass from Lizzi Swan thus giving MMS a 4-0 lead.

Six minutes later Baylee Stewart, our goalie who was playing the field took a nice hard kick around the 18, and ball went sailing into the corner of the net giving Baylee her first goal ever and putting MMS up 5-0.

MMS continued to battle hard with great defense from Zaniah Puchalski, Cindy Shelmerdine, Quinn Overlock, and Julia Kunesh, as well as the front line did not back down.

Khylie Cochran scored with 26:50 gone in the second half on a corner from Annie Vannoy.

Two minutes later, Skylah Ward was hustling for the ball, was taken out inside the 18, and set MMS up for a penalty kick. Rachel Readinger scored on this penalty kick to give MMS a 7-0 victory.

Great all around team play was played by MMS. Six different girls scored and numerous other girls almost found the back of the net.

Boys Middle School Soccer: Searsport 6, Camden-Rockport 1
(By Dusty Nadeau)

Gage Ellis struck early with an unassisted goal for Searsport. Josh Wright also found the net twice and assisted a Nate Ashey score on a last minute corner kick rounding out a strong first half for Searsport.

Wright completed the hat trick in the second half assisted by Eli Law and Ashey tallied a 2nd goal unassisted.

Wright and Ashey lead a dominating Searsport attack which threatened throughout the game. Also strong throughout was Searsport’s defense led by a smothering back line of Hunter Treat, Dawson Bierwas, Sean Paige, and Austin Peavey. The team was supported by solid goal play from Cole Ellis, who held Camden-Rockport to just one late game goal on a corner kick.

Middle School Field Hockey: Camden-Rockport 4, Boothbay 0
(By Robin Payson)

CRMS won their home game against Boothbay 4-0.

This win ends a five year dry spell for CRMS field hockey. Finally, these hard working players are seeing some payoff for all the effort they've been putting in this season.

The team picked up momentum as the game went on; most of the first half was looking like an even match with just one goal being scored by Kennedy Peterson, who was assisted by first year player Alyson Shook.

The second half is when everything started to click.

First, a goal scored by Molly Shook, then another goal by Peterson and finally a fourth goal scored by Charlotte Hood, who was assisted by Alyssa Bland.
