BELFAST — A Searsport man has been charged with unlawful sexual touching after reportedly touching an area teen inappropriately on March 21.

Paul E. Badger Jr., 20, was helping with a local youth group meeting when the alleged incident occurred, according to Belfast Police Detective Gerald Lincoln.

Police were alerted about the incident on March 23, by the director of the youth group, who had been contacted by the juvenile’s concerned mother earlier in the day.

Badger, who took part in the group during his own youth, was not currently a member, nor was he typically involved in their activities.

“He returned [to the group] after some time and asked to participate,” Lincoln said.

It was during the course of the day’s activities that Badger reportedly inappropriately  touched the 13-year-old juvenile.

Lincoln responded to the report, and interviewed Badger and others who attended the youth group meeting.

During his interview, Badger reportedly admitted to touching the juvenile and that he was aware of the victim’s age, according to Lincoln.

Badger is scheduled to appear in court on April 21.
