BELFAST — Scott N. Merrithew, 92, passed away May 20, 2015, at his residence in Belfast. He was born in Morrill on Nov. 2, 1922, to Lester and Bertha (Jackson) Merrithew.

Scott attended Crosby High School. He worked at the Republican Journal for over 30 years and later at Mathew Brothers and New England News Clip. Scott enjoyed painting on canvas in his spare time. He also had an interest in old, classic cars. Scott was a member of First Church in Belfast.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Dale Merrithew. Scott is survived by his wife, Frances (Ellis) Merrithew; his son, Gary Merrithew of Belfast; his sister, Joyce Curtis and her husband, Theodore, of Belfast; two grandsons, Ric Merrithew and Luke Merrithew, both of Belfast; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 27 at 1 p.m. at First Church in Belfast with the Rev. Joel Krueger officiating. Burial will be private Winslow.
