His arrival officially kicks off Festival of Lights

    ROCKLAND – Its official, Santa arrived by way of a Coast Guard boat at the middle pier in Rockland at noon, Friday, November 25, to kick off the Festival of Lights that continues with events through Sunday.

    Rockland Mayor Will Clayton was on hand to see Santa arrive as he has every year.

    "We're also going to do a ribbon cutting to officially open Main St. for the busy Christmas and Holiday shopping season," he said.

    The festival continues tonight at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the lobster trap Christmas tree and at 6 p.m. Saturday with the Festival of Lights Parade down Main Street in downtown Rockland.

    Music was provided by the Midcoast Music Academy.
