SPRINGFIELD, Va. – Sandra L. Carr, 67, died Oct. 6, 2012, at her home in Springfield, Va., following an extended period of declining health.

Born in Camden Aug. 26, 1945, she was the beloved daughter of Wilson P. and Corine Clark Hendrick.

Educated in local schools, she was a 1963 graduate of Camden High School. She married Frank Carr in Camden in 1967.

After moving to the Washington, D.C., area she was employed for several years in the U.S. Air Force and Army Exchange Service. After retiring from that position, Sandra moved to Springfield, Va., where she resided happily for her remaining years.

She loved animals of all kinds and always had dogs and cats, whose names were very descriptive and indicative of the loving ways in which Sandra related to each of their personalities. She enjoyed photography, often taking photos at the spur of the moment.

Sandra was predeceased by her father, Wilson P. Hendrick, in 1997; and her brother, Richard W. Hendrick, in 2004. Sandra is survived by her loving mother, Corine Hendrick of Camden; her niece, Rachel Hendrick and her fiancé, Jerrad Roberts, both of Owls Head; her nephew, Shane W. Hendrick and his wife, Elizabeth, of Thomaston; her sister-in-law, Anita M. Volpe of Tenants Harbor; and Sandra's longtime partner, Donald F. Cole of Springfield, Va.; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 104 Limerock St. Reception Center in Rockland. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Camden.

Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, ME 04841.
