Samoset’s limited-edition Ice Bar, the hottest and coolest around

    ROCKPORT - The weather was touch and go during construction, but in the end Samoset Resort chef Tim Pierce successfully transformed 20,000 pounds of ice into the 2017 Glacier Ice Bar. Sculptures are displayed and the Ice Bar opens next at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, Jan. 21; weather permitting.

    Pierce said he enjoys competing in and judging ice carving competitions throughout New England, and has won numerous awards.

    Pierce also teaches ice carving locally to up to 30 residents for the upcoming annual Camden Winterfest, and judges ice carving for the National Ice Carving Association.
