Fri, 09/05/2014 - 3:30pm
ROCKLAND — Rabbi Natan Margalit will be at Adas Yoshuron Synagogue in Rockland on Thursday, Sept. 11 - Saturday, Sept. 13, leading services and moderating discussions focused on preparing for the High Holidays.

On Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. he will lead discussion on "Highlights of the High Holidays." Talking points include: What are the differences between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur? What themes run though all the High Holidays? What are the most important sections of the service to really pay attention to, and where can you relax in the long days in the synagogue?

On Friday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a Sabbath service followed by a catered dinner and discussion of "The Poetry of the High Holidays." According to Rabbi Margalit,  the High Holidays are a time when we examine our lives deeply, and go beneath the surface to uncover what’s really happening inside. Bring and share your own poems, or any poem that inspires you to “get real” as we prepare for the High Holidays. Dinner reservations required by contacting the office, $10/person, $40/max per family.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, Sabbath services will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a luncheon and discussion of "What Does Atonement Mean?" Yom Kippur is known as the Day of Atonement. Is there a difference between atonement and forgiveness? What does it mean to interpret Atonement as “At-One-Ment?”
