HOPE — Ruth Payson, 92, passed away peacefully April 8, 2014, at her home in Hope. She was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Rockland, the daughter of Earl H. and Ethel Sukeforth.

She married her soul mate, Guilford Payson, in 1946. Together they ran the family apple and blueberry farm in Hope. They enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling until his death in 1996. She took great pride in her grandsons, spending time traveling around the state with them. We will all miss her infectious smile, vivacious personality and her upbeat outlook on life as she had a long and wonderful one on her beloved Hatchet Mountain.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Earl and Richard Sukeforth. Ruth is survived by her son, Richard Payson of Hope; her daughter, Candace Crispo and her husband, Steve, of Hope; her granddaughters, Jennifer Payson of Richmond, Va., and Nicole Payson of Rockland; her grandsons, Tyler Crispo and his partner, Alicia Turcotte, of Lewiston and Trevor Crispo of South Portland; and two great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Special thanks to Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice, which took such good care of Ruth.

Those who wish may make donations in Ruth's memory to Kno-Wal-Lin Home Health & Hospice, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland, ME 04841.
