Ruth C. ‘Sally’ Laite, obituary

LINCOLVILLE — Ruth C. "Sally" Laite, 76, died at her home on July 8, 2015. Born in Camden on Aug. 16, 1938, she was the daughter of Vere B. and Edith (Anthony) Crockett and grew up in Rockville.

A 1956 graduate of Camden High School, Sally attended Fisher Junior College in Boston. On Dec. 27, 1960, she married her childhood sweetheart, Keryn Barker Laite, Sr. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Camden.

For several years, Sally worked in Washington, D.C., in the office of Sen. Margaret Chase Smith. In 1981, Sally went to work at the Lincolnville Telephone Company as business office supervisor retiring in 2009. Sally was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the United Christian Church in Lincolnville Center.

Sally spent countless hours of her time in the community to various organizations and causes including the United Christian Church; the restoration, maintenance and flower plantings of Petunia Pump; the Veteran's Memorial Honor Rolls; and in recent years, the Lincolnville Community Library.

Sally loved her family and was very devoted to husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Keryn B. Laite Sr., who died Oct. 22, 2009; her sisters, Natalie Noyes and Virginia "Ginny" Thompson; her brother, William Nash; her sister-in-law, Irene Laite; and her brothers-in-law, Vance Laite and Gilbert Laite Jr. Surviving are her four children, Keryn B. Laite Jr. and his wife, Heidi, of Lincolnville; Stephen Laite and his wife, Jackie, of West Rockport, Heidi Jackson and her husband, Scott, of Searsmont, and Peter Laite and his wife, Jenn, of Hendersonville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Laite, Brittany Lund, Avery Laite, Matt Laite, Justin Laite, Cody Laite, Jamie Laite and Jordan Laite, Anthony Collins, Robyn Collins, Ryan Laite, Aiden Laite; five great-grandchildren; her brothers, Harold (Pam) Crockett, George Nash, Frank Nash; her sister, Betsy Tyson Smith; her brother-in-law, Parker Laite; her sister-in-law, Karen Laite; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St. in Camden. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
