Russell E. Wotton Sr., obituary

WALDOBORO — Russell E. Wotton Sr., 79, died April 19, at his home in Waldoboro. He was born May 28, 1933, in Friendship to Willie and Julie Winchenbach Wotton. He grew up and attended local schools in Friendship.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War. He worked for White's Dairy in Union for many years. He later worked for Wendell Reed as a lobster buyer for more than 15 years. He also worked as a mason for 18 years with Myron Neal. He worked for the town of Friendship on the road crew and especially enjoyed snow plowing.

He enjoyed cooking home made meals, gardening, bird watching, driving his car and looking at new cars. He was predeceased by his parents, Willie and Julie Wotton; a son, Russell Wotton Jr.; his daughter, Theresa Peterson; his longtime girlfriend, Margie Wallace; and his brothers, Myron and Alfred Wotton.

He is survived by a son, Timothy D. Wotton of Rockport; his sister, Shirley Benner of Waldoboro; his grandchildren, Kristy Wotton of Rockport, Amanda Peterson of Rockland, Brittney Wotton of Camden, Willie Wotton of Thomaston, Amber Wotton of Thomaston, Amander Wotton of Windsor, Drake Grant of Massachusetts, and Marika Crockett of Warren; and several great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be Wednesday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at Harbor Cemetery in Friendship.
