The board overseeing Regional School Unit 13, comprising elementary in Cushing, Owls Head, Rockland, South Thomaston and Thomaston, as well as Oceanside Middle School and Oceanside High School, will meet Dec. 1 in Rockland to discuss the ongoing proposal to build a new school at the current Owls Head Elementary School site. The agenda also includes talking about restorative practices at Oceanside Middle School and accepting a grant from FMC Corporation.

The regularly scheduled meeting will be held at McLain School and begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Owls Head Elementary School is 64 years old and sits on nine acres, and there have been public meetings about either renovating the school, or building a new school on the same parcel. The project, the design of which would include closing the Gilford Butler School, could possibly result in an Owls Head-South Thomaston Community School.
