ROCKLAND – A Rockland man sustained injuries Feb. 25 around 6 p.m. after his pickup truck abruptly careened into oncoming traffic and was struck by a car on Route 1 in Rockland near the Thomaston line.

Mark Harding, 43, was driving a 2001 Nissan pickup truck on Glenwood Avenue in Rockland when he collided with a 2013 Ford Explorer driven by Heidi Small, 40, of South Thomaston, who was traveling eastbound, according to Rockland Police Sgt. Don Finnegan, who responded to the crash scene.

Harding was transported by Rockland EMS to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport after complaining of head and neck pain.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to the damages from the crash.

Finnegan said that the crash remains under investigation. Police do not know at this time what caused Harding’s vehicle to veer into traffic on Route 1.
