THOMASTON — Rose Marie Mitchell Morse died July 22, 2015, at the Sussman House in Rockport, after a long battle with cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

Born June 7, 1925, to George Kenneth Mitchell and Eleanor "Doris" Mitchell, Rose grew up on the Thomaston waterfront, with kids who called themselves the "Wharf Rats," and where she met her future husband, E. Roger Morse. They were married July 19, 1941, and had just observed their 74th wedding anniversary.

Spending her life as a homemaker, she worked briefly at Sylvania's, Black & Gay Canning and Medomak Canning. For many years she was a member of the RB club, a private ladies group.

Rose's favorite pastimes included her long daily walks, cooking and eating "nutritiously," gardening, knitting, playing cards, boating and reading.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, E. Roger Morse; her daughters, Molly MacMillan, and Monica Rokes and her husband, Tom; her son, Richard Morse; her grandchildren, Andy McMillan (Susan), John MacMillan ( Julia), Holly Rokes and Hannah Rokes, and her great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Erick, Emily, John, Joey and Jordan MacMillan. Rose also leaves behind her sister, Maxine Beckett of Thomaston.

Rose was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Richard Mitchell; a sister, Josephine Miller; and a grandson, Dean MacMillan.

A committal service is planned for Tuesday, July 28, at 10 a.m., when Rose will be laid to rest in the Village Cemetery on Erin Street in Thomaston. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate.

The family requests that donations in Rose's memory be made to: The Sussman House, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport, ME 04856 or Kno-Wal- Lin , 170 Pleasant Street, Rockland, ME 04841.
