APPLETON — Roland Hazen Wiley, 72, of Appleton, passed away Nov. 13, 2015, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD. He was born in Warren on July 16, 1943, to Alford Wiley and Ruth (Moody) Wiley.

He grew up in Warren and attended Warren schools. In 1962 he met the love of his life, and devoted wife of 49 years, Audrey (Clark) Wiley.

Roland enjoyed many opportunities throughout his lifetime, starting with his trucking career in 1962 with C.R. Wallace & Son, in Warren. He was fortunate to be able to enjoy 12 years of self-employment on the equipment he loved (his tractors, snow plows and ton truck) and was blessed to be able to combine all of it into his last 15 years with the Town of Union Public Works Department, before his retirement in 2009. After his retirement he enjoyed helping his cousin, Joel, at the farm, where he was still able to enjoy the things he loved to do.

He always said, the only thing he had longer than his wife was his Martin guitar - preforming on stage, to family gatherings and events, to "after dinner shows while mom did the dishes." He was often ready for a laugh and always ready with a joke, right up until he fell asleep armed with his Milton Berle book, with a wit unmatched by many. He looked forward to visits and coffee with family and friends, he could talk to anyone about anything.

Roland was predeceased by his mother and father, Ruth A. and Alford G. Wiley; two sisters, Louise Edna Wiley and Flora Wiley Waisanen; two sisters-in-law, Avis Wiley and Bonnie Wiley; and his brother-in-law, R. Emerson Crockett.

Roland is survived by his wife, Audrey M. Wiley of Appleton; his son, Jason Wiley and his wife, Candace, of Union; his son, Scott Wiley and his friend, Danielle Millay, of Appleton; his daughter, Jennifer Wiley and her partner, Chris Farley, of Rockport; his grandchildren, Kellie, Emily, Payton, Ryan, Matthew and Melissa; his great-grandchildren, Madeline, Tasker and Kolby; his sister, Agnes Crockett of Newcastle; his brother, George Wiley of Piedmont, S.C.; his sister, Verna Bean and her husband, Edward, of Union; his brother, Arnold Wiley and his wife, Pearl, of Fayetteville, N.C.; his brother, Carleton Wiley and his wife, Hope, of Warren; his brother, Aubrey Wiley of Warren; his sister, Celia Waltz of Warren; his sister, Donna Dow and her husband, Bill, of Waldoboro; his brother-in-law, Ozzie Waisanen of Warren; and many nieces and nephews, extended family, special friends and our PBMC family.
