MONTVILLE — Roger A. Jackson, 84, of Montville, passed away on May 30, 2017, in Belfast. He was born May 27, 1933, in Searsmont, the son of George L. and Margie (Poland) Jackson.

Roger graduated from Crosby High, Class of 1951, and then enlisted in the National Guard in Belfast. Roger met Alma Chute and married her on April 4, 1953, in a double ceremony with Ernest and Ernestine Hooper.

He worked in various positions for Sprowl Bros. for many years. He also drove trucks and buses, and did a stint for Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut for four years.

Roger and Alma ran the Bayside Gulf Station for a brief time, and ultimately he took a position as a machinist for G.E. until his retirement.

He was well-known for his buying, selling and trading. Roger enjoyed his time camping with his family and friends as well as snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, golfing and playing cards. He was also a 62-year member of the Mason's Quantabacook Lodge.

He was predeceased by his parents; his spouse, Alma in 2016; and his siblings, Marguerite, Donald, Carroll, Evelyn, Irvin, Bernard, Vivian and Roland. Roger is survived by his loving children, Judith Fuller and her husband, Norman, of Liberty, Laura Jackson and her companion, Tim Woodbury, of Liberty, Brian Jackson and his wife, Tootie, of Montville, and Scott Jackson and his wife, Heidi, of Searsmont; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, June 3, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast, where funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Morrill Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waldo County General Hospital, Hospice Unit, 118 Northport Avenue, Belfast, ME 04195 in memory of Roger and Alma Jackson.
