ROCKPORT — Rockport Police officers are investigating what prompted a man to jump into Chickawaukie Pond early Friday morning, after a caller dialed 911 and reported hearing two people yelling and running up the road along Lakeview Drive (Route 17).

Knox County Regional Communications Center received a suspicious complaint at 3:52 a.m. on Aug 19. Rockport officer James Moore arrived on scene and located a male subject in the water.

This man stated he had been accosted by an unknown male and jumped in the water to get away from them, according to Chief Randy Gagne in a press release.

Moore was assisted by Camden and Rockland Police departments and the Knox County Sheriff's office.

There were no serious injuries to the victim and no charges have been filed.

Gagne said the matter is under investigation and no further information would be released at this time.
