Rockport gears up for summer celebration of its 125th anniversary

     Rockport is gearing up for its 125th Summer Celebration, with a week of events scheduled for July 29 to Aug. 7. Festivities begin July 29 with a Firefighter's Ball at the Samoset Resort. This will be a dance for the entire community, featuring popular band Creatures of Habit. Tickets are $50 and available onlinebrownpapertickets.com/event/2531469; or can be purchased up at the Rockport Town Office, 236-9648.
     
    On July 30, there will be a Rockport 125th Community Parade through Rockport Village. The parade is open to participants who want to join the fun. To sign up and learn more, contact Marlene Hall, 207-594-8047; email 24mhall@gmail.com.
     
    The week will include a variety of events, including concerts, a film festival, and harbor festivities. It all culminates Sunday, Aug. 7, with a Goose River Bridge Community Dinner. 
     
    The bridge overlooking the harbor will be closed to traffic, and tables will be set up for a catered dinner. Just prior to the dinner, a special free Bay Chamber jazz concert will fill Marine Park with music for all to enjoy. Tickets for the dinner will be soon be available to purchase.
