Rockport Fire Department to hold fourth annual boot drive Aug. 10

Wed, 07/18/2018 - 8:00pm

ROCKPORT — The Rockport Fire Department Inc. will hold its fourth annual voluntary boot drive fundraiser Friday, Aug. 10, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Route 17 and 90 intersection. Drivers stopped at the traffic light will again have an opportunity to voluntarily drop a donation in a firefighter’s boot.

The department is raising money to continue issuing three scholarships to graduating students, helping within the community, and to purchase specialty equipment and new uniforms.

The department created the nonprofit group several years ago so the department could raise money to assist with projects in the community.

“During the previous boot drives, we received very generous support from the community and a lot of positive feedback about the job we are doing for the community and this makes all of us feel very appreciated about what we do,” said Peasley.

Anyone interested in making a donation can drive through the toll booth Aug. 10 or mail a check to Rockport Fire Department Inc., P.O. Box 142, Rockport, ME 04856, or drop it off at the fire station during regular business hours.
