ROCKLAND — Rockland Fire/EMS will hold a brief 9/11 remembrance ceremony this morning at 9 a.m. in front of its Sept. 11 memorial at 118 Park St.

The memorial was built last year by the Rockland Professional Firefighters group, with all the materials donated by Home Depot. This year, the memorial was completed with all the landscaping and labor donated by Farley and Son Landscaping in Rockport. The crew from Farley and Son worked for two days and donated more than $5,000 dollars worth of materials and labor, according to firefighter Chris Whytock.

“With the memorial in its final stages and the 12-year anniversary of Sept. 11, all are welcome to join together and remember the tragedy that unfolded,” said Whytock in an email.

The firefighters will be joined by members of the American Legion, who will carry out a 21-gun salute followed by the playing of taps.

“The Rockland Professional Firefighters would like to publicly thank Home Depot and Farley and Son. Without their financial support and expertise the memorial would never have been built,” said Whytock.
